Last year saw two teams of trekkers take on the jungles of Borneo and the perilous slopes of The Grand Canyon for St Luke’s.
For Loraine Walkin, 65, a housewife and fitness fanatic, Borneo was her fourth overseas challenge having already taken on Mount Kilimanjaro, The Great Wall of China and the Arctic to raise funds for the hospice. “I’ve always loved challenges and I don’t think I’ll ever stop,’ says Loraine. ‘People think I’m mad but everything I do has always given me a real sense of achievement and even more so when raising money for a worthwhile local cause.” Why not have the experience of a lifetime and raise money for the Hospice; it’s a great way to celebrate a life.
Lorraine is once again embarking on a challenge, this time its Everest Basecamp, between the 30th October and 16th November 2009. If you are interested in supporting Loraine or joining her on this once in a lifetime adventure, please contact the Hospice on 01752 492 626 or visit her justgiving website
