Debbie Sweet Cornwall and Sue McCallum Devon have joined St Luke’s Hospice as Community Fundraisers to help raise awareness of St Luke’s Services and promote fundraising events. Debbie and Sue will be encouraging volunteers to organise fundraising events in the local community and would love to hear from anyone interested. Sue will be covering the Devon side of St Luke’s and Debbie will be covering the Cornwall side. They both have some very exciting fundraising initiatives coming up this year:
Tea@3 is a simple and fun way to raise much-needed funds for St Luke’s Hospice. We hope that thousands of people in workplaces, schools, at home and across local communities will hold fundraising tea parties at any time in May and June. With your help we aim to make Tea@3 a huge, fun, annual event. There are many ways to hold a Tea@3 party from simply asking your colleagues/friends to give a donation at tea break to a slightly more unusual event. What about holding a themed tea party such as Mad Hatters Party or Cream Tea Party. Most importantly remember to have fun along the way! Call the Fundraising Team on 01752 492626 for a Tea@3 pack.
Go Yellow for St Luke’s Hospice. Yellow is the colour of the Hospice Movement and June is Hospice Awareness Month so we are asking you to do something yellow to support us in June.
· Shops – why don’t you decorate your window yellow, wear yellow clothes, sell yellow food or yellow merchandise? What about holding a yellow raffle or tombola?
· Community groups – how about holding a sponsored walk with everyone wearing yellow, organising a yellow dance, donating a yellow item and then holding a yellow sale.
· Workplaces could have a dress down yellow day, have yellow food in the canteen or hold a yellow sponge throwing competition at your boss.
· Schools – what about a yellow mufti day, guess the number of yellow sweets, grow the largest sunflower, have a custard eating competition or decorate your classroom yellow (and of course a sponge throwing competition at your teacher!!)?
Getting started: Get some friends/colleagues together for ideas on how to get people involved, think about what sort of event to organise, what theme, where, who could take part and how it will raise money. Promote your Tea@3 and Go Yellow events as soon as possible. Display posters to encourage people to get involved. Contact your local press to ask to get your event listed in their events section.
Don’t forget, please keep in touch with Debbie and Sue to let them know about your great fundraising events and to ask for any help, advice or promotional material. We are also always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising events.
