Playing the Lottery is a fun way to support the Hospice
To anyone who may at present be teetering on the brink of joining us, we are offering a special St Luke’s goodie bag to new players. Existing members who decide to convert to paying for their lottery membership by standing order will also receive a goodie bag.
Each bag contains a very useful shopping trolley token (you’ll never again be caught without that essential pound coin in the supermarket trolley park), St Luke’s Lottery pin badge and our very cute little St Luke’s teddy bear. All feature the St Luke’s logo so you can let everyone know that you are proud to be one of our wonderful players.
Since it began in 1996 the St Luke’s lottery has raised over £2.5 million for patient care. This represents a vital part of the income we need to generate in order to keep offering the highest level of care to our patients and their families.
At present our St Luke’s Lottery canvassers are out and about in your area. This is an easy way for you to join the lottery. All St Luke’s Lottery canvassers carry photographic identification so please don't hesitate to ask to see it.
The St Luke's Hospice Lottery held the first draw in April 1996 and by January 2002 had made a profit of over £1,000,000. Each week now there are approximately 8,000 paying members in the draw. The profits made by the Lottery go directly towards the day to day costs of patient care.
"I never thought I would win, it was such a surprise!"
By joining this lottery you know that you are making a contribution towards a well known local charity. The annual running costs of the Hospice are in the order of £5 Million and the Lottery contributes around £300,000 towards this total. The care offered by the Hospice is provided free of charge. It is not just medical and nursing care but also incorporates emotional, social and spiritual support and advice to both the patients and their families.
"It's such a great way to support St Luke's and have some fun"
