The St Luke's Hospice Lottery held the first draw took place on 26th April 1996 and by January 2002 had made a profit of over £1,000,000. Each week now there are approximately 9,500 paying members in the draw.
The profits made by the Lottery go directly towards the day to day costs of patient care. St Luke’s lottery has raised over £3 million for patient care. This represents a vital part of the income we need to generate in order to keep offering the highest level of care to our patients and their families.
By joining the Lottery you know that you are making a contribution towards a well known local charity. The annual running costs of the Hospice are in the order of £5 million and the lottery contributes £300,000 towards this total. The care offered by the Hospice is provided free of charge. It is not just medical and nursing care but also incorporates emotional, social and spiritual support and advice to both patients and their families.
