Lymphoedema Service

Lymphoedema is caused by a blockage in the lymph system that results in swollen limbs, which in turn can impact hugely on a person's physical and psychological well-being.
Our Lymphoedema Therapy Team are able to offer an individually tailored service to patients suffering from Lymphoedema.

The main aim of therapy is to rehabilitate the person to enable them to lead as much of an independent lifestyle as possible, by teaching them skills to manage their swollen limbs. Most patients who attend the clinic will come on a regular basis for at least a year.

Referrals to this service are made through hospital consultants, GPs and any specialist Palliative Care health worker working within St Luke's Service on behalf of patient and their carers.

The treatments the team offer are as follows:
- Skin Care advice
- Exercise advice
- Fitting of compression hosiery
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage
- Compression bandaging
- Kinesiology taping
- Appointments
