Making a Will - Leaving a Lasting Legacy

Leaving a gift in your will is a great way to ensure that St Luke's can continue to make a difference not only now, but in the future. It will have no financial impact on you during your life, but it will help our patients after your death.
Around a quarter of our income comes from wills, meaning the care of one patient in every four is only made possible due to a gift in a will.

St Luke's Free Will Service

To support this way of giving, we have introduced a free will writing service. This service has been set up in collaboration with a number of solicitors across our catchment area.
Aimed at those over the age of 35, the free will writing service will hopefully encourage you to leave a gift to St Luke's in your will. St Luke's will pick up the solicitor's charge for simple or mirror wills, and will pay a contribution towards more complicated wills. If you wish, you can also have an existing will amended (a codicil) using this service.
Although there would be no obligation for you to leave a gift in your will to St Luke's, we would be very grateful if you did so.

Why include St Luke's Hospice in your will?

It's surprising how many people die without making a will. This is a great shame because the process of making a will is actually quite straightforward, whereas administering the estate of a person who has died intestate (without a will) can be a long, drawn out and laborious affair. This can be particularly hard on friends and relatives who are, perhaps, struggling to cope after losing a loved one.
If you have not previously considered making a will, we hope you find this information useful in helping with the first steps of securing the future of your loved ones. We also hope that you will consider remembering St Luke's Hospice and help future patients and their families across South West Devon and East Cornwall.
