St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth provides specialist end of life care and support for people with progressive life-limiting illnesses.
Our vision is a community where no person has to die alone, in pain or distress. Last year we cared for over 3,480 people in the local community who are living with a life-limiting illness. This specialist care is provided by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers and therapists to patients and their families at home, at Derriford Hospital or at our specialist unit at Turnchapel.
Our nurses are a fundamental part of the services that St Luke’s provides to the community, without them the care we provide simply would not be possible. They care for people across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall, traveling over 67,000 miles each year, ensuring that our patients are as comfortable and at ease, as possible.
The St Luke’s nurses are a special breed; they choose to use their skills in an environment and situation that many would find difficult. But that’s why they do it – they know they have something very precious to offer; advice, support and compassionate care to patients and their families at the end of their own lives, or someone they are close to.
You can make a real difference to a patient’s life by sponsoring our nurses working at our specialist unit and visiting you at home. Your generous gift will help us to continue to provide much needed care to the people in your community.
If you are a business or organisation and would like to find out more about how you can sponsor a nurse on a regular basis, then contact our corporate fundraising team for more information on our corporate sponsor a nurse campaign.
The money you donate means that our nurses can continue to travel the 67,000 miles a year to provide patients with the care, support and advice that they need. With your help we can reach out and help so many more people, so thank you.
