‘Light Up A Life’
Poignant memories of those we have lost come flooding to the fore at Christmas and for many people this can be a very lonely and difficult time.
Each year St Luke’s Hospice holds candlelit services of celebration and remembrance so that people can join together to remember their loved ones. Hospice Chaplain, Trevor Smith, conducts the beautiful Light Up A Life services. They are held throughout the communities St Luke’s Hospice serves.
The Light Up A Life services are open to anyone in the community who wishes to attend and no previous connection with the Hospice is needed. The services always begin with a candlelit procession followed by carols, prayers and readings. Everyone present has the opportunity to light individual candles in memory of their loved ones.
People who have attended previous Light Up A Life services say they have found great comfort in joining with others to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.
Hospice care is holistic and supports the whole person and family meeting many needs - physical, emotional, social, spiritual and psychological. Our annual Light Up A Life services help us to continue providing support and care to people who have been bereaved.
