Men’s Day Out

We believe that we must do all that we can to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our community. In light of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Plymouth and following very careful consideration, along with the full support of our sponsor IU Energy, we have taken the precautionary measure of postponing our mass participation fundraising event, Men’s Day Out, due to take place on 28 March 2020. This will be rearranged to take place in 2021.

This is the largest fundraising event in our calendar and was set to raise a record amount of funding to help us care for terminally ill people at end of life. However, the health and wellbeing of our patients, supporters, staff, volunteers and all our loved ones is our overriding concern and as a healthcare provider we give the utmost priority to taking every reasonable step to protect them. We also recognise the responsibility we have to our wider community.

We can only deliver outstanding end of life care because of the support and generosity of our community. Having to postpone this major event will have a financial impact but we are confident that it is the right thing to do.

We know that many of you were looking forward to taking part in this event and raising funds, so we recognise that this postponement is bound to cause disappointment. Each registered participant will be contacted with alternative arrangements.

Open Gardens

Due to current restrictions on public events and a large number of garden owners self-isolating, we have made the sad decision to cancel all Open Gardens until the end of June. You will find updates from here.

We understand that it is disappointing that the gardens are closed,  they are not only a wonderful way of getting out and about and seeing beautiful places but they also raise vital funds for our hospice. We hope you will consider other ways you can keep our nurses in the hospice and on the road by clicking here. Thank you for your support.

If you have any queries about our upcoming open gardens, please do not hesitate to get in touch by e-mailing info@stlukes-hospice.org.uk.

Open Island

Our May Drake’s Island tours have been rescheduled to Wednesday 9 September 2020 due to the current coronavirus pandemic. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch by emailing funadmin@stlukes-hospice.org.uk.

Shops

We have good news for the many kind-hearted supporters who, in ‘normal times’, demonstrate their love for St Luke’s by donating to – and shopping at – our charity shops across Plymouth and surrounding areas. After the weeks you’ve spent patiently waiting for our stores to re-open safely, we’re delighted to let you know that this carefully planned, phased process has begun!

Hosting your own event

The health and wellbeing of our patients, supporters, staff and volunteers is our overriding concern and as a healthcare provider we give the utmost priority to taking every reasonable step to protect them. We also recognise the responsibility we have to our wider community.

On behalf of events

We are liaising with our third parties and making decisions now on the planned events we have in our calendar which St Luke’s are jointly responsible for delivering.

In aid of events

We are aware that there are a larger number of in aid of events across Plymouth and the wider area that are held on in aid of St Luke’s but we are not directly involved in and often may be not even be aware of. The Community Fundraising team are currently in the process of contacting the organisers of their events which have been listed on our Community Events calendar, to advise the organisers on actions they should consider.

We still need to raise money so we hope to see fundraising continue in the community where possible and for the events to be carried out in a way that follows the Code of Fundraising Practice. Please get in touch if you would like to fundraise for St Luke’s or have any queries or concerns by e-mailing funadmin@stlukes-hospice.org.uk.

How can you help?

Here you’ll find ways that you can continue to support St Luke’s from the comfort of your home.  As a charity with only 23% of our annual income coming from the NHS, we rely on the kindness of our community to help us continue making an important difference to local families facing a very challenging time.
