St Luke's Memory Jar

Losing a loved one is always an extremely difficult time, you have so much you wish you could have said, so much you wish you could have told them.

We understand how important it is to be able to remember your loved ones; memories are precious and are what keeps us in touch. We would encourage you to write and reflect upon yours, which is why we have evolved our annual ‘Forget Me Not’ event into our new Memory Jar appeal.

Keeping your memories cherished forever
Our appeal gives you the chance to write a handwritten message to your loved ones in which your words will then form the beginning of your very own memory jar. Your jar can develop as time goes by, as you add all the things that remind you of your loved one, collecting memories as you go.

We will then create a beautiful and enchanting display of your memory jars, that when darkness falls, will glow across the sound.

Opportunities to create a memory jar are limited so if you would like to create your message and secure a jar, please send us your message online with the link below.

There is no fixed donation amount for the jar and we ask you to donate however much you feel you can. All donations will be gratefully received and will help support families who need our specialist care.

Join us in remembering
The opening of this display based in the garden on Plymouth Hoe will be on Sunday 9 April from 3pm featuring heartfelt readings and poems. We would like to invite you to join us at this time for remembrance and reflection. The garden will then be open for three weeks, allowing you to visit the display at your freedom.

At the end of the three weeks, if you would like to collect your personal jar from the garden to keep filling for years to come, you may do so on the 27 and 28 April when the garden closes.

With your continued support, you will be contributing towards the £4 million we need to raise every year to help people in your community. Your donation will enable us to continue to care for over 3400 patients and their families, who desperately need our help. You are helping to ensure that patients and their loved ones enjoy life right to the very end, with the best possible support no matter where: at home, at hospital, or in our specialist unit at Turnchapel. We never expect it to happen to us, but when it does we want to be there.
