Emotional and Psychological Support

Coping with a terminal illness is one of life’s most challenging journeys for both patients and their loved ones. Our Patient and Family Team provides emotional support that is grounded in empathy, active listening, and respect for each person’s unique experience.

Whether you’re a patient or a family member, we’re here to offer time, space, and understanding when you need it most. We offer a safe, non-judgmental environment where individuals can express whatever you are feeling – fear, sadness, anger, confusion, or hope.

You may need to:

  • Grieve the losses you’re facing
  • Talk about fears around death and dying
  • Reflect on identity, meaning, and purpose
  • Address personal or family issues
  • Make sense of your journey and what matters most to you

We are here to support you through these deeply personal and often difficult conversations, with honesty, care, and compassion.

We believe in:

  • Encouraging open communication
  • Supporting legacy work and memory-making
  • Respecting autonomy in decision-making
  • Integrating spiritual or psychosocial care when needed

The Patient and Family Team delivers these services across both our specialist unit at Turnchapel and within the wider community. Whether you’re receiving care at home or at our specialist unit, our team is here to walk alongside you.
