Our care
At St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth we share the ethos of the late Dame Cicely Saunders, the founder of the modern hospice movement:
‘You matter because you are you, and you matter to the last moment of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die’
We care for people with serious illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, multiple sclerosis and chronic lung disease, treating any adult over the age of 18. We do all we can to involve patients in decisions about their care, to maintain privacy and dignity in providing that care and to respect patients’ individual rights and religious and cultural beliefs. Our approach to care is holistic, centred on the needs of the individual patient.
Which areas do we cover?
For over 40 years we have been providing specialist end of life care and support to people from across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall, whether in the home, hospital or at our specialist unit at Turnchapel.
Working together
Our teams of specialist doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and social workers work alongside other healthcare professionals including at Derriford Hospital and Livewell Southwest as part of integrated care in Devon, to deliver the best possible care, advice and support for you and your loved ones.
The majority of our patients are cared for at home, but we also provide care at Derriford Hospital and at Turnchapel.
