Here at St Luke’s, we are proud to be Veteran Aware, as credited by the Armed Forces Covenant. We recognise that patients from military backgrounds tend to feel better understood, and more at ease, when the care and support they receive acknowledges the service they have given their country, and the language and routines with which they are familiar. It is for this reason that we are committed to delivering personalised, respectful, and informed care to the Armed Forces community which includes regular and reservist personnel, veterans, spouses and families.
In Plymouth, 8.4% people, have previously served in the Armed Forces. This is more than double the number compared to the England average of 3.8%. Being an Armed Forces and Veteran Aware organisation involves sharing good practice and linking with local services for the Armed Forces Community, while raising staff awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant.
Please let us know if you have ever served in the UK Armed Forces, are you a reservist, or a member of the Armed Forces community.
