St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth is an independent charity providing specialist advice and support to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses in Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall.
Our Education Team has an exciting new post available which has been created to support the development of a compassionate end of life community in the South Hams and the Plymouth rural locality, which hopes to build the community’s capacity to support carers that care for people at end of life.
The role will involve raising public awareness of this initiative, training and engaging with community and voluntary groups, developing informal care networks to work with care services and supporting individuals to be cared for in their homes.
This is a project post which may evolve over time, with an initial 12 month fixed term contract. Some evening and/or weekend working is expected as part of this post, with a view to maintaining a healthy work-life balance for the post holder.

EoL Urgent Care Service Registered Nurse, Band 5...St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth is leading the development of an End of Life (EoL) Urgent Care Service, ensuring continuity of care for those at End of Life, through a single point of access.
This is an innovative and exciting new development, which will support those patients at EoL to receive a seamless and efficient level of care appropriate to their needs, including an urgent response.
To take up this amazing opportunity in the team, you will need to be an Adult Registered Nurse on the NMC register, with evidence of up to date clinical / leadership experience. .
You will work closely with primary and secondary care professionals and Hospice colleagues in the coordination of EoL care. You will need to have excellent communication and good data analysis skills.
This role will be required to work a variety of shifts to cover the service including weekends and nights and access to your own transport is required, as there will be cross site working and a potential need to cover a large area of the community.

IPU Staff Nurse, Band 5St Luke’s are recruiting a Staff Nurse to join the nursing team on Specialist Unit at Turnchapel. The Specialist Unit delivers palliative and end of life care for patients with complex palliative care needs. The Specialist Unit prides itself in the delivery of an exceptional standard of nursing care. As a result we are proud to offer a particularly good nurse to patient ratio to support that standard of care.
Post registration experience in a variety of areas would be an advantage but not essential. Experience in Palliative Care setting is required. Internal rotation to nights and weekends will be a requirement of the post.
