Remember together at St Luke’s Midnight Walk 2025

Midnight Walk is back for 2025

St Luke’s iconic and poignant Midnight Walk is back for 2025, offering people the chance to celebrate precious memories of family members and friends who are no longer with us, while supporting the city’s much-loved hospice charity.

Hundreds of generous walkers will be taking to the streets on Friday 11 July wearing the event’s distinctive pink T-shirts. Funds they raise through sponsorship and donations will help St Luke’s continue their vital work providing clinical, practical and emotional end of life care for patients and their loved ones, at home and at the charity’s specialist unit at Turnchapel.

Entries for this hugely popular event are now open and, for the very first time, there are four route options, ensuring the whole family can join in, from young children, teenagers and occasional strollers through to seasoned long-distance striders of all ages and those challenging their personal fitness goals.

Participants can choose from 2.5-mile, five-mile, 7.5-mile or 13.5-mile circuits, all beginning and ending at Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park stadium and passing local landmarks along the way. Regular registration costs £24 for ages 11 and over, and £12 for ages 10 and below.

As evening falls at the football club’s Fan Zone, walkers will be able to view a special Memory Wall filled with words they have submitted in advance to honour special friends and family members who have died. As well as being a poignant gathering, it’s a positive and hopeful occasion with a joyful atmosphere come rain or shine, where entrants can enjoy warm-up dance routines, fun merchandise and refreshments before setting off.

St Luke’s Events Manager Georgina Dyke said: “Midnight Walk is an emotional event with people coming together to honour those we have lost, but it always has a lovely party vibe too. We were determined to make the evening more inclusive than ever this year and I’m looking forward to seeing walkers of all ages and abilities striding out on our new selection of routes.

“We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors Michael Spiers, and to Plymouth Argyle for hosting. I’d like to remind everyone that your registration fee covers the cost of putting on the event. It’s the sponsorship and donations we receive on top that really make the difference to the people who need our vital services 365 days a year.

“Whether you have taken part in our event before or this is your Midnight Walk debut, we can’t wait to see you. What really makes the night for everybody is that they’re coming together to do what they can to help local families going through the toughest of times. Just think, if every single Midnight Walker committed to raising £100, it would bring in the equivalent of our St Luke’s teams providing care for 100 families at home.”
