A partnership built on gratitude: Why Michael Spiers supports St Luke’s Midnight Walk

It was this experience that first inspired Adam and his team to support the hospice and its work across Plymouth and the surrounding communities.

“We started our relationship with St Luke’s because of my family’s experience and the incredible work the team do within the local area,” Adam explained. “Having been through it ourselves, I understand just how vital quality end-of-life care is, not only for the individual but also for their family and friends, in ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining dignity for all. This is why supporting the hospice means so much to me personally, and why I feel so strongly that we should back St Luke’s wherever we can.

As a business that has been part of Plymouth life for nearly seven decades, the luxury jewellers and watch specialists see giving back to the community as both a responsibility and a privilege.

“Giving back to the community that has supported our business for nearly 70 years matters enormously to us,” said Adam. “St Luke’s is woven into the fabric of Plymouth, and the service it provides is one that so many local families come to rely on.

“As a business with such deep roots in this city, we feel it is both a responsibility and a privilege to support a charity doing such essential work on our doorstep.”

The company’s commitment can be seen through its involvement in a range of St Luke’s events, including sponsoring lighthouses on our Guiding Lights art trail which launched this week and the Midnight Walk.

“This is why we involve ourselves so wholeheartedly in St Luke’s events, from the Guiding Lights trail to the Midnight Walk,” Adam said. “These occasions bring the community together in a really meaningful way, whether people are walking in memory of loved ones, taking on a challenge or simply enjoying a night out with family and friends.

“We also have a fantastic team at Michael Spiers, many of whom throw themselves into these events with real enthusiasm, all in aid of a genuinely wonderful cause.”

It is this ‘can do’ attitude that will see members of the Michael Spiers team taking on our Midnight Walk on Friday evening.

As the partnership continues, Adam says the business remains proud to stand alongside the hospice in memory of his father and the many local people who have received its care.

“We feel truly privileged to support St Luke’s in my father’s memory, and in memory of all those across our city who have been looked after by the hospice,” he said.

“Maintaining this partnership for so many years has been a true honour, and one that makes me very proud. Every step taken and every pound raised helps St Luke’s continue providing the exceptional care that makes such a difference to so many lives locally, and we will continue to stand behind them for as long as we are able.”

Through its ongoing support, Michael Spiers is helping to ensure that St Luke’s can continue providing compassionate care for patients and families when they need it most, while bringing the community together through events such as the Midnight Walk.
