Men’s Day Out 2019

Saturday 30 March 2019

Plymouth’s biggest and best Men’s Day Out is back! Join hundreds of men on the move for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth on Saturday 30 March.

It’s a great opportunity to gather your mates and walk our 12km route (with one or two watering holes along the way) and enjoy a pasty and a pint whilst watching a cracking rugby match, at the end.

This guys-only gathering for banter and rugby, powered by IU Energy, is a firm favourite with those who want to have a great day out AND make a real difference in their community.

Starting and finishing at Plymouth Albion RFC, the walk kicks off at 10am and follows a planned route which takes you past some of Plymouths most famous sights including The Barbican and Plymouth Hoe Waterfront. You’ll then return to Albion’s ground in time to see their not-to-be-missed clash, with Birmingham Moseley.

Places at our popular event fly, so beat the scrum and register today to avoid disappointment!

How much does it cost to register?

Registration is £32, which covers our costs for your t-shirt, pasty, pint and entry to the rugby match – but it’s the additional money you raise on top of that through sponsorship that makes the real difference to patient care in your community. If asking for sponsorship isn’t your thing, then that’s no problem – there is an opportunity to give a one off donation when you register!

Who can enter the Men’s Day Out?

Entrants must be male, aged 11 years and above. All entrants aged 11 to 16 must be accompanied by a male parent or guardian at all times. The parent or guardian must register for the event. 17 year olds must have signed consent to take part but can walk the route without being accompanied by a male adult. A signed parental consent form must be completed. The form will be sent to you in the post after your online registration and must be returned prior to the event.

Why is it only open to men?

This particular event is for men only as there is something unique about a mass group of men, coming together for a special cause. However, we do need women to volunteer as marshals for the men’s safety at the event.

If you’d like to volunteer, please email events@stlukes-hospice.org.uk or contact us on 01752 492626 to discuss our opportunities. Our Midnight Walk every July is a women-only event, so no-one is left out!

What time does the walk start and how long does it take?

Start time is 10am and the finish time is expected to be between 11.30am and 3pm, depending on how many stop-offs you make en route. We encourage all participants to make it back for the rugby match kick-off at 3pm to receive their free pint and pasty.

How you can help

Men’s Day Out not only gives you the chance to have a great experience but also makes a real difference to the patients of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth in the last months, weeks and days of life. Last year with the help of our local community raising money through events like Men’s Day Out, our nurses were able to care for more than 3,500 patients – a need that is growing year on year: all sponsorship is vital.
