Men’s Day Out
Saturday 6 April 2024
March memorable miles to support St Luke’s expert care
It’s an unmissable mix of miles, mates, memories, and it’s back for 2024!
Grab your pals, join the mass of big-hearted men marching through Plymouth on Saturday 6 April, and make a massive difference to families in your local community who need the compassionate, expert care St Luke’s provides at the toughest of times.
Discover a special bond with friends old and new as you stride a scenic 12km (7.5 mile) route through the city and along the waterfront. Winding up at the Plymouth Albion rugby ground, you’ll be ready to tuck into a well-earned pasty, enjoy a welcome beverage and cheer on the local boys as they clash with the Rams from Reading.
Men’s Day Out is so much more than a fun, banter-fuelled, outing to revel in with your mates – it’s also about being mindful of men’s mental health and the impact of bereavement.
Many walk in memory of loved ones but, let’s face it, men are masters at masking our emotions, even after losing someone we care deeply about.
Sharing our feelings can make a big difference, and Men’s Day Out offers a great opportunity to drop the brave face and open up to others who know what we are going through.
Places for the event – kindly sponsored by JEM Scaffolding Ltd – always go fast. So, dodge the scrum, sign up and start asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you.
How much does it cost?
Registration costs just £35, but that only covers your official Men’s Day Out T-shirt, refreshments, a ticket for the rugby and our event costs.
How about setting yourself a fundraising target?
It’s your additional sponsorship and donations that really make the difference to the patients who need our vital service at home, in hospital and at our specialist unit at Turnchapel, 365 days a year.
Just think, if you and every single Men’s Day Out Walker commits to raising £100, the event will bring in enough for our St Luke’s teams to care for 100 families at home. Wouldn’t that be amazing? And if you raise over £100 in sponsorship and bring it on the day (or show proof of your online donations) you will receive an additional free beer! You will also be entered into the draw to win Plymouth Albion and Salcombe Brewery prizes if paid in by 31 May 2024.
