Men’s Day Out 2020 has been postponed.

We believe that we must do all that we can to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our community. In light of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Plymouth and following very careful consideration, we have taken the precautionary measure of postponing our mass participation fundraising event: Men’s Day Out, due to take place on 28 March 2020. This will be rearranged to take place on a Saturday later in 2020.

This is the largest fundraising event in St Luke’s calendar and was set to raise a record amount of funding to help us care for terminally ill people at end of life. However, the health and wellbeing of our patients, supporters, staff, volunteers and all our loved ones is our overriding concern and as a healthcare provider we give the utmost priority to taking every reasonable step to protect them. We also recognise the responsibility we have to our wider community.

We can only deliver outstanding end of life care because of the support and generosity of our community, so having to postpone this major event will have a financial impact but it is the right thing to do.

As a participant of Men’s Day Out, we will reserve your registration at our rescheduled event due to take place on a Saturday later in 2020. The final date is still to be confirmed with Plymouth Albion and we’ll be in touch as soon as we the details.

We will assume that you would like your registration to be carried over to the rescheduled event, however if you can no longer attend, please inform us so that we can discuss whether you wish for your registration to be converted to a donation or request a refund. We aim to respond to your request within the next five working days.

We thank you in advance for your patience during this time, whilst our team experiences a high volume of enquiries.

For further queries, email us.

When will it be rescheduled to?

This will be rearranged to take place later in 2020 and a specific date will be communicated once the Albion fixtures have been agreed.

When will the date be confirmed?

This date cannot be confirmed until the end of the April when the current season finishes, but as soon as we know, an announcement will be made.

What will happen to my registration?

As a registered participant of this year’s Men’s Day Out, we are happy to reserve your place at our rescheduled event later in 2020. We will assume that you would like your registration to be carried over to this new date, however if you can no longer attend the event, please inform us so that we can discuss whether you wish for your registration to be converted to a donation or request a refund. We will aim to respond to your request within the next five working days.

Can I give my place to someone else?

You are not permitted to ‘give’ your place to anyone else. If you are unable to walk on the day, please contact the Fundraising Team as soon as possible. Your event registration will be cancelled and refunded, if we receive this request. Please advise your friend they will need to register for the event separately as a new registrant.

How you can help

Men’s Day Out not only gives you the chance to have a great experience but also makes a real difference to the patients of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth in the last months, weeks and days of life. Last year with the help of our local community raising money through events like Men’s Day Out, our nurses were able to care for more than 1,746 patients – a need that is growing year on year: all sponsorship is vital.
